Running Applications from the GUI tool ...

    Hi,

I'm trying to run the cpi.exe application from the guitool, but it fails with
"ERROR: get_user_handle failed, error 1326: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password."

The gui tool correctly picked up the username credential to launch the application, but how do I enter the password for that credential?

Could this be related to the installation problem I posted earlier?

Interesting ... I selected "localonly" and it ran.

    But why?

Select the Credential Store tab from the gui tool.  Enter a username and password that is valid on all of your machines.  Then click Add to save this information.

This is probably the cause of your previous problems also.

The localonly option does not use the credentials in your store.  It launches the job directly from the mpiexec process.  This bypasses the error resulting from a bad username and password but doesn't solve it.

This is a single machine installation, so there is nothing to synchronize.

Do you mean that this should be a username/password for a real user account on the OS? I did not create another user account yet ... if so, I guess I should.

Yes, you have to provide a username and password that you could walk up to each of your machines and type in and log on to the machine.  The suggested mode of use is to use your own username and password.  That way your jobs will run as you and be able to access files and other resources with the same security permissions as you.  But you can create another user if you like.

Ah, the lights have gone on. Makes sense in retrospect.

    Thanks! That works perfectly.
