    Installation problem

    Hi,

i am trying to install DeinoMpi to test it, but i have some problems in the installation. More specifically,
i don't understand the process of installation.

I run deinompi.msi, i run the deinompi win tool and as i figured out i should create a credential store.
    Then i create an account.

I do that to both my computers, with the same accounts to both.

Now when i go to the cluster tab, i see only one computer (to each machine) and when i click the computer, a message says that deinompi not installed.

What i should do to configure the cluster?

    Thanks in advance,
    nick

    Re: Installation problem

If you install DeinoMPI on multiple machines but the machines don't appear to be able to communicate or connect to each other, this is most likely a firewall issue.  DeinMPI uses TCP sockets to connect processes on multiple hosts.  Firewalls are designed to prevent TCP connections between hosts.  So you have to resolve this conflict.  The easiest way is to turn off you firewalls and then see if you can run DeinoMPI jobs.  If this solves the problem then you can work on setting up the exceptions to allow DeinoMPI applications to run if you want to turn the firewalls back on.

    Re: Installation problem

    I'm having a similiar problem with 1.1.0.

After installed, I created the credential store and verified the server process is running. I turned off the firewall. This is a single machine installation on XP SP2.

My host/local machine appears, but it's blue, but the UI says that DeinoMPI is not installed (but it is).

    Any ideas?

    Re: Installation problem

I have exactly the same problem. Windows firewall turned off (XP SP3). All machines are blue, list the version (1.1.0) but I am told it is not installed.

I tried installing on virtual machines. The error there said that the version was different!

So, anyone with suggestions because it obviously works for heaps of people

    Re: Installation problem

We've seen this problem where DeinoMPI claims that there is a version mis-match when the versions are really the same but we haven't been able to reliably reproduce the errror and debug it.

Is your Credential Store private key password protected?  One problem with the scan tool is that it fails if you have to enter a password to access your credential store needed to log in to the remote machines.  It also fails if the user name and password stored in the store are not valid on the remote machines.

    So:

    1) Make sure the user name and password are valid on all the machines.

    2) Don't use a password to protect your credential store private key if you plan on using the scan tool.

But even if you don't do anything, can't you still run jobs?  You should be able to run jobs even if the scan tool erroneously states there is a version mis-match.
